VISA

If you are selected for the IMATEC program, you must ensure that you can legally reside in all study destinations.
EU nationals can stay in the Czech Republic, Spain, and Finland without additional procedures; non-EU nationals shall apply for a Czech Residence Permit.

EU Nationals

Holders of a passport issued by a member state of the European Union can reside in the Czech Republic, Spain, and Finland on this passport.

In the Czech Republic, Spain, and Finland, students shall follow the local rules of registration of their place of residence. The university administration office will provide details upon students’ arrival.

Non-EU Nationals

Students coming from countries that are not members of the European Union must ensure that they can legally reside in all the study destinations.

In order to do that, they shall apply for the Czech Residence Permit for the Purpose of Studies.

An appointment at the respective Czech embassy must be scheduled in order to apply for the residence permit. The appointment shall be scheduled by the applicant himself/herself based on the instructions provided on the website of the respective Czech embassy.

How to proceed
  1. Follow the instructions on how to apply for the Czech Residence Permit for the Purpose of Studies
  2. You will need “Proof of Accommodation” and “Confirmation of Studies” – these two documents will be issued by UCT Prague and sent to you by a courier
  3. Sign “Proof of Accommodation” and send a scan to mundus@vscht.cz
  4. Once you are sure, that you have all the documents that are required, schedule an appointment at the Czech embassy
note

It is crucial to arrange an appointment at the respective embassy in May at the very latest. The residence permit approval can take up to 60–120 days. All students must be physically present in Prague at the beginning of September to start their studies.

Especially applicants from India, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Ghana, Sri Lanka, Bhútán, Chad, Cameroon, Maldives, and Nepal, should apply for the residence permit AS SOON AS POSSIBLE because of the competition at the embassies in Abuja (Nigeria), Accra (Ghana) and New Delhi (India) which is enormous, and the appointment slots are very limited!

Note that applying for a long-term residence permit is crucial for a smooth transition between the partner universities. The Czech Ministry of Interior offers also an option of applying for a long-term visa, however, this option is not suitable for this type of study program.

Under certain circumstances, it may happen that arranging for a Spanish or Finnish residence permit will be required.
